As long as you both have an active and rather trustworthy internet connection, you can help and partly become an online technician through remote access to his computer.
1. Each of you should go to www.showmypc.com
2. Look for the [Show my PC] or [View remote PC] button
3. Download and Run the file (Note:I'm using mozilla on the below view)
4. On the main menu, you'll see two options.
5. For the viewed PC - Press [Show my PC Now].
Wait for a password to be generated on the upper right side
6. For the person who's gonna look at the remote PC - Press [View Remote PC]

7. Typed in the password generated from the Remote PC and there you go. You can use the computer as if it was right in front of you.
Notice: Speed may vary depending on the PC specs and speed of the internet. Antiviruses may prevent this from running so please allow access.
